A fire rages in the forest. All the woodland creatures watch and cower in fear. Only little hummingbird takes action, carrying water to the fire, one drop at a time.

A story with a message, gorgeously illustrated. When asked what she’s doing, Little Hummingbird replies “I’m doing everything I can.”

The issue of the fire is not resolved, the story ends with Hummingbird’s statement, so unless your child understands the message, they might not get much out of the story. However, if your child ‘gets’ the moral, this is a terrific book to incorporate within a larger lesson, about doing your part, no matter how modest.
