Governor General’s Literary Award Winners

The Governor General’s Literary Awards (GGs) are given annually to the best Canadian English-language and French-language books in each of the seven categories of Fiction, Non-fiction, Poetry, Drama, Children’s Literature (text), Children’s Literature (illustration) and Translation (from French to English and English to French). The awards are funded, adminstered and promoted by the Canada Council.

Listed below are the Children’s Literature winners only. From 1949 to 1958 a prize was given in the ‘Juvenile’ category. The current Children’s Literature categories – English and French, text and illustration – were established in 1987.
